Pocket Community Housing Project
Creative solutions for Skagit County’s housing crisis
United Way Worldwide has a long-standing tradition of supporting housing stability—and here in Skagit County, we’re building on that legacy with solutions that reflect the heart of our community.
Today, too many of our neighbors are living without safe, stable shelter. Families with full-time jobs are struggling to make ends meet, and for hundreds of Skagit residents, the lack of affordable housing is the primary barrier to security and well-being.
That’s why United Way of Skagit County is taking bold steps through innovative partnerships and people-first design. Together with North Star—a coalition of Skagit County elected officials—we’re investing in housing options that work for everyone.
One example: our new Pocket Community Tiny Home Project, a model for affordable, dignified housing that offers stability, privacy, and a sense of place for vulnerable individuals and families that are at risk of losing housing or have just lost housing through no fault of their own. It’s more than a roof overhead—it’s a foundation for new beginnings that is mindful of our community. By coming together the intention is to create beautiful purposeful spaces that we would all be happy to have within our community.
In recent years, state and federal housing assistance has declined. But Skagit County has always been a community that steps up. With your support, we can continue to lead the way in creating housing solutions that honor the dignity of every person.
Join us in building stronger partnerships for hope—one home at a time.
