For over 60 years, United Way of Skagit County has been a cornerstone of community strength—bringing people, resources, and organizations together to support those who need it most. As our county grows and changes, so do the challenges we face—and United Way continues to evolve in response, guided by a steadfast mission: to build a more resilient, equitable, and hopeful future for all.

 

In recent years, we’ve sharpened our focus on addressing the root causes of Skagit County’s most pressing issues. That means going beyond short-term fixes to invest in long-term solutions—tackling poverty, expanding access to family, education, vocational, and housing support, and creating more pathways to stability and opportunity. Through collaboration with trusted partners, we amplify local voices and champion community-led strategies that make a lasting difference.

 

One of our most urgent priorities is the growing mental health crisis, especially in rural and underserved areas. United Way is helping to reimagine what mental health support looks like in Skagit County—by investing in peer-to-peer programs, expanding access to care, and promoting connection and belonging in every corner of our community. This work goes hand in hand with efforts to meet basic needs, reduce isolation, and strengthen families.

 We’ve seen neighbors show up for one another in powerful ways: delivering food, offering shelter, giving time, and standing up for those too often left behind. United Way was—and continues to be—right there in the heart of it all. As we look to the future, our purpose is clear: to keep showing up, to keep listening, and to keep building a Skagit County where everyone has the chance to thrive.
